Working on a 66 coupe. As in previous posts, no welding experience or sheet metal experience. About to become an expert. I've watched a few youtube videos on removing, cutting and fitting new floor pans. I forgot to answer the thickness question - I've collected a few panels off of discarded washers/dryers and a couple of heavier gauge steel oil drum lids. The washer panels are great for body patches and appear to be the same gauge as the floor pan too. The galvanized is ok as long as you don't breathe any zinc fumes.
